APRIL 3, 2025 | FEATURES | By Izzy Roe and Megan Burich (Staff Writers)

Hello, all. We know you all missed our article last week, but do not fret! We are back with two whole articles this week! Be sure to check out our other article on The Catalyst website which was written last week.

Maybe we should look into publishing elsewhere because our “article got lost in the drive.” How dare they treat us with such disrespect (okay we’ll admit, we can’t remember the last time we submitted an article on time tbh)!? Anyways, double trouble this week, thank god. For this article, we reviewed a toasted corn lager from New Image Brewing at a whopping 4.5%.

With toasted corn on the cob, you expect a toasted corn tortilla to be in your mouth.

Unfortunately, we searched and searched for the toasted corn but failed to find it. Aside from the discrepancy, this was an amazing Mexican lager. Izzy said it tasted similar to an 805 blonde, and Megan found it to just be like a better Corona or Pacifico. It had a deeper and richer flavor than any Mexican lager you might normally find, and it was super easy to get down.

We thought this was one of the few beers we had tried, other than our dependable sours, that someone could purchase over and over again. At only $14 for four pints, compared to $16 for a six-pack of Coronas, if you are willing to splurge for a solid craft beer that is consistent and easy to drink, this is the beer for you.

Additionally, the chug here was easy breezy Covergirl. First, we finished at the same time (the mother-daughter connection goes crazy), and we were there for a solid 10 seconds. It was honestly magical, and one of the easiest chugs we have had to do in the entirety of Beer for Babes. The burps that followed tasted like corn! We found where it was! The corn was in the belching! However, Megan had trouble having some good burps, so she struggled to find the corn taste Izzy was raving about.

This beer paired well with presidential turmoil, the pink highland cow pillow pet named Barb, and big ahh teeth and a sunken mouth. Which do you think is worse in a man? A mouth getting more sunken as they grow old, or male pattern baldness? This debate lasted a fair amount of time as we sipped this beer.

The can design was fun, with a luchador, or professional Mexican wrestler, on the front. We were a little concerned if this was politically correct, but Megan felt that she was connecting with the Spanish class she is currently in.

Overall, this may be one of the most versatile and easy beers we have ever tried. It is one that I would consistently buy again as my day-to-day drink. If you like any sort of Mexican lagers, don’t be scared off by the toasted corn and give this beer a try.

See you all next week! Xoxo beer babes.
