Heyyyy and welcome back from spring break.

We know you patiently awaited our return as you frolicked on beaches or skied some mountains. This Beer for Babes takes place on the tail end of Izzy and Megan’s trip, where we started in California on our own adventures and ended together in Breckenridge, Colo.

We tried a West Coast IPA from Broken Compass Brewing, a brewery local to Breckenridge, called All 4 Nanuk-ie. After doing some in-depth research about this brewery (looking at “Our Story” on their website), we found that the name and motto of Broken Compass are focused on getting lost, as “getting lost leads to the best discoveries in life.”

Another gem of a quote from Broken Compass includes “It’s also about the people you meet along the way. The beers you cheers, the laughs you share, the stories you create, and tell.” It’s giving millennials. It’s giving Rae Dunn font. It’s giving “Live Laugh Love.” But hey, let’s not get ahead of ourselves before we try the beer.

Guess what? Megan did NOT like this one. She felt like it was all bitter, with no fun or variety. Very hoppy, and she didn’t find much depth to the flavor. Felt very surface-level West Coast, with not much of the creaminess/smoothness she would expect from this type of beer. She’d definitely had better! However, Izzy thought basically the exact opposite. She thought that it was fruity and very smooth almost to the point of creaminess. However, the creaminess and fruitiness may have come from the Tums that she was eating before. But at the same time, it did taste a little bit like every beer out there.

One thing we did agree on, however, was how easy this beer was to get down. We finished two pints in well under an hour, and at 7.2% ABV and after drinking three beers throughout the day, we were quite sloshed. This helped us given the fact that the last leg of our spring break had grown quite tense, slightly because we couldn’t find enough Epic passes for everyone to ski Breck, but mostly since we got so addicted to the show Temptation Island, we started acting like we were on a reality television show. Side eyes were given, people stormed off and the shit-talking was turned on. However, after ingesting large amounts of alcohol (again, like most reality TV shows), everything felt great!

As we all sat and giggled, this beer paired well with watching short, low-budget ski movies and over-confident men throwing themselves off cliffs. Just you wait! After Megan mounts her new Armadas, she might be in the next ski movie sponsored by Flylow posted on YouTube! Also, strangely enough, Izzy kept mentioning how well this beer paired with Megan’s mother’s peppermint Tums.
