CC Athletics: In the fourth annual Colorado College Athletics Giving Day, donors raised $135,649 on Tuesday, Dec. 3, through Wednesday, Dec. 4. According to the campaign, “funds directly support our 350+ dedicated student-athletes, helping them excel on and off the field.”

Last year, the fundraiser earned $114,000 for the program. Donors can select to contribute to various departments and teams, including sports medicine, strength and conditioning and general athletic funds. Men’s and women’s tennis earned $28,610, leading the programs in incoming donations. Women’s basketball followed with $27,555.

Hockey: The Colorado College Tigers dropped two spots in the United States College Hockey Online’s polls to remain in the top ten following a series loss against Providence College on Dec. 6 and 7. The Providence College Friars defeated the Tigers 4-3 on Friday and 5-1 on Saturday, bringing the Tigers to 9-4-1. Full coverage is available in this edition of The Catalyst by Celeste Hammer ‘28.

On Dec. 5, Kaidan Mbereko ‘26 was named National Co-Goaltender of the Month by the Hockey Commissioners Association for his November performance. Mbereko was also recognized as National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) Goaltender of the Month, leading the conference with 224 saves and an average 1.71 goals-against average.

The No. 10 Tigers face rival and reigning national champions No. 4 Denver University on Dec. 13 and 14 for The Battle of the Gold Pan. While tickets are sold out, fans can watch the series through multiple television platforms. 

Men’s Soccer: The United Soccer Coaches named Curtis Hale ‘25 and Alex Wolter ‘27 All-Americans on Dec. 5. Hale was also named to the CSC Academic All-American Second Team for a second consecutive year on Dec. 10.

Swim & Dive: After three weeks between meets, Colorado College’s men’s swim and dive team is sending six swimmers to College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Open Water Nationals on Sunday, Dec. 15. Those swimmers are Edmund Davis ‘26, Lucio Bollettieri ‘26, Miles Nordling ‘27, Tomas Gonzales ‘27, Carter Hagenauer ‘28 and Nathan McCracken ‘28. The top five finishers will earn automatic bids to the USA Swimming 5K Open Water Championship.

Women’s Basketball: The Tigers hold a 6-1 record for the first time since 1976. Their start has placed them just outside D3hoops.com’s top 25, receiving votes in the national polls. Zoë Tomlinson ‘25 leads the Tigers, averaging 20.7 points per game with 145 points in just seven games. She was appointed to D3hoops.com’s National Team of the Week on Dec. 4.

The Tigers open conference play against Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference rival University of St. Thomas (Texas) on Saturday, Dec. 14, in Houston, Texas.

Men’s Basketball: The 2-4 Tigers will also travel to Houston, Texas, this weekend to play the University of St. Thomas (Texas) Celts on Saturday, Dec. 14. The Celts are currently 6-1 and are receiving votes in the D3hoops.com polls.

Track & Field: Indoor track and field will travel to neighboring University of Colorado, Colorado Springs on Dec. 13 and 14 for the 2024 Colorado Running Company Pre-Holiday Invite.

Women’s Club Hockey: The Tigers club hockey team played the Hot Flashes and FC Flames B in Fort Collins, Colo., on Dec. 7 and 8, losing the first game 0-3 and winning the second against the FC Flames B 1-0. The Tigers club program has two more games this weekend in Littleton and Arvada, Colo., against the Edgy Penguins on Dec. 13 and Narwhals on Dec. 14.

Intramural Sports: Wyatt Furda ‘27 and Mason Moore ‘28 dominated in the Block 4 Second Saturday Series cornhole tournament, winning their qualifying rounds in three decisive 21-3 victories, thanks to their “killer mentalities.”
