Standing behind the counter in the first-floor kitchen of South Hall, Kate Delson ‘28 gives off the vibes of the incredibly cool bartender who would give great advice at the end of a long week as she blends up a smoothie in the background. Delson is the founder of South Blends, a smoothie shop operating out of South Hall with the hopes of bringing delicious drinks to the school.

Delson’s love of smoothies started in elementary school and continued into high school when she worked in a smoothie shop. Since starting college, she has made herself one every morning and wanted to share her smoothies with other students. Starting South Blends allowed Delson to sell them for a cheap price.

All of her smoothies are made with healthy, fresh ingredients and are made to order. Many of Delson’s smoothies were staples of her breakfasts over time with inspiration being drawn from her time working at a smoothie shop. Her favorites include “Manic Mocha”, “Salted Caramel” and “My Favorite.” The smoothies range from five to seven dollars and payment can be made with cash or Venmo. There is also the option to add additional fruits, mix-ins and plant protein to any smoothie.

As an avid baker, Delson would love to start selling her homemade baked goods and smoothie bowls as South Blends grows. While there is no set schedule for when Delson will be blending up smoothies, she plans on updating the Instagram page (@southblends_cc) 24 hours before opening. This is where you can also find information on the menu. So, if you are interested in a healthy treat and a great conversation, swing by South Blends.
