Hello loyal readers and welcome back to this week’s Beer for Babes. Once again, we were disappointed by a seemingly fun and flirty IPA that turned out to be like every other IPA. This week, we tried Deep End and Cerebral Brewing’s collaboration, Deep End IPA with Pineapple, which is brewed in lovely Denver (thumbs down). The can design was impeccable and immaculate, one of the main reasons we bought it. Also, we love a little fruit hint with an IPA. Unfortunately, we were disappointed.

This tasted like a normal IPA, and if you thought about pineapple and really tried to channel it, you could maybe get a hint of the fruit. Izzy thought it gave the vibes of Hawaiian pizza: starch and pineapple. Megan is not so sure she agrees, but supports the metaphor. This beer was also super hoppy, which I think contributed to the lack of pineapple. This frustrated us greatly because we decided against getting a double IPA because we didn’t think our taste buds or tummies could handle it. Instead, we got a beer that tasted like a double IPA, but didn’t have the percentage we might’ve gotten from a double: overall, sadness.

This beer, however, paired well with getting us drunk after a very long and tumultuous week, or going in the “deep end” (get it). It also paired well with finding out Megan’s high school math teacher is involved in the federal indictment of New York City Mayor, Eric Adams. We also found this beer to go lovely with conversations about short kings, and how they might be going extinct due to natural selection. So, for the survival of short kings, give one a chance!

Lastly, ‘chuggability’ was heinous. We made the mistake of going to Illegal Petes before indulging in this beer, so both Izzy and Megan almost yakked.

Overall, we would not recommend this beer. There are better single IPAs out there where you can actually taste the flavor it advertises. We really need to stop buying beers just for the can design, because it seems to get us nowhere. On that happy note, see you next time!

Xoxo
