The Colorado College men’s and women’s tennis teams are in the midst of their spring season. They are trying to find their stride as they edge closer to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships. The Tigers played a slew of matches last weekend — the first was against Hastings College. After trailing Hastings 2–1 after doubles, the Tigers men’s team rallied in singles play to down the Broncos.

It was Noah Forman ’20 who won the No. 1 match, downing his opponent Carter Mason 3–6,7–6,1–0(5). The Tigers won their next four singles matches as well, taking their confidence to Greeley, Colo. the following day, where they battled Seward County Community College and Northern Colorado State University.

The Tigers suffered tough defeats. Unable to snag any points, the men’s team fell to Seward County Community College 5–0, and Northern Colorado 7–0. Noah Forman  ’20 and Daniel Holland ’19 managed to win the No. 1 doubles match, but the team failed to grab any other points over the course of the afternoon. The singles matches proved to be too much for the Tigers to handle, despite a gritty performance from Forman.

The women’s team got their first win of the season against Hastings, winning 7–2. The Tigers had an impressive showing in the doubles matches. Headlined by Tess Rubin ’21 and Elise Chassman ’22 in the No. 2 match, Lily Salzman ’21 and Gaby Jadotte ’22 also claimed a victory in the No. 3 match. After a well-rounded performance in the singles matches, the women headed into the weekend where they also battled Seward Country Community College.

The Tigers unfortunately lost to Seward, as they were unable to snag any points. With just a few weeks left in the season, the Tigers look to carry some positive momentum into the season finale. The Tigers traveled to Georgetown, Texas on April 4 to face the Southwestern Tigers.

After a roller coaster of a past few matches, the tennis team is ready to close out their season in a few weeks, culminating at the SCAC Championships on April 19 and 20. They will continue on a road trip to face Austin College and Schreiner University.
