Hello CC! My name is Harrison Rosenfeld, and I’ll be serving as sports editor for The Catalyst this semester. To quickly sum up my “CC profile,” I’m a sophomore, an IPE major, a former CC lacrosse player, and overall just stoked to have this job! I grew up playing sports my whole life, and with a love for competition and the camaraderie of a team, my life has been shaped by the sports I have played.
My love of sports doesn’t stop with playing them, though. I’m an avid collegiate and professional sports fan, even though I have (unfortunately) been raised a die-hard Detroit Lions fan. (Shout-out to all the Seahawks and Broncos fans!) I can’t wait for what is sure to be an instant classic at Super Bowl XLVIII. Fun fact: Like most football fans, I learned roman numerals through counting Super Bowls…
So enough about me – let’s talk about what the new sports section will be bring you. We will have all of CC’s biggest intramural, club and, of course, varsity sporting events covered like CB Richard Sherman covers WR Michael Crabtree… #Lockdown.
“Senior Spotlight” will cover a senior leader and how their career as a CC student-athlete has shaped out for them. Our own Alyssa Ortega will be leading a new workout section, with all the new cutting edge and “off the beaten path” workouts one could wish for. Our “Road Trip Rumpus” section will leave readers with a smile (maybe even a laugh!), as players tell us their crazy away game stories.
Finally, I will be doing a section spotlighting an upcoming CC sporting event that will happen during the following week. I’ll help set the scene for the “CC Game of the Week,” hopefully gaining some exposure for the game and increase student attendance. I speak for the whole sports section team when I say we’re excited to get our coverage started. We hope you enjoy!
