Colorado Springs Police , along with a number of regional law enforcement agencies, are searching for a local woman who went missing Sunday evening in the mountains west of the city while mountain biking.

Alicia Jakomit, 36, is believed to have been riding toward the Emerald Valley Ranch on Old Stage Road Sunday evening, but did not return home. Her husband reported her missing after his attempts to find her were unsuccessful, The Gazette reported.

“Although reported to be a very accomplished rider, the missing bicyclist was not equipped for night time riding,” police said in a news release.

The Colorado Springs Police Department is working with El Paso County Search and Rescue and law enforcement in Teller County in searching for Jakomit. Police will remain the lead on the investigation while the other agencies handle the search.

“We have no reason to suspect foul play at this time,” police spokeswoman Barbara Miller said.
