The positions of two staff members who resigned in the final days of last semester remain unfilled as the second week of the block comes to a close.
The two high-ranking positions, Student Activities Specialist and Residential Life Coordinator for the Mathias area, oversee student life and conduct at Colorado College.
“We brought two candidate to campus for the RLC position, and we are in the process of making decisions around those two candidates,” said Sara Rotunno, Assistant Director of Residential Life.
The two candidates for the position have no prior connections with CC, but do have experience with residential life and housing, Rotunno said.
Campus officials had originally hoped to fill the Mathias RLC position by the start of this block.
“The search for a new RLC for Mathias will begin immediately, with the goal of having that person in place by the start of Block 5,” Jane Turnis, Director of Communications, said at the end of last semester.
Rotunno says Residential Life does not have an exact date for when a new RLC will step in.
“My hope is that things will be solidified by the end of next week,” she said.
Paul York, Student Activities Specialist, and Nicole Fagundo, Residential Life Coordinator for Mathias Hall, both submitted letters of resignation on Monday, Dec. 14, officially splitting from the college, according to Turnis.
Neither the former employees nor the college would discuss the nature of the resignations, citing confidentiality policies surrounding personnel issues.
“[The lack of an RLC] hasn’t created a problem and we are managing through it right now,” Rotunno said. “Myself and the four other RLCs have split up the tasks, holding officer hours and reaching out to staff.”
Catalyst prompts on the future of the Student Activities Specialist position were referred to Rochelle Mason, Associate Dean of Students. Mason could not be reached for comment.
