Men’s Hockey: Following the Colorado College Tigers’ final regular season series on Feb. 27 and Feb. 28, the Tigers claimed the sixth seed in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) regular season standings. The Tigers defeated the No. 10 University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs 4-1 on Friday, Feb. 27, and lost in an overtime shootout the following night.

On Monday, March 2, the NCHC named Kaidan Mbereko ‘26 the KJ Branding Goaltender of the Week. Mbereko made 39 saves on Feb. 27, setting his season-high for the year.

The Tigers are set to play No. 4 Western Michigan University in the NCHC Frozen Faceoff quarterfinals on March 6 through 8 in Kalamazoo, Mich. The first team to two wins will advance to the semifinals. The series will be available to watch on NCHC.tv

Women’s Basketball: The Tigers concluded their 2025-26 season on Saturday, Feb. 28, in a 54-42 loss in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) semifinals to Hendrix College. They entered the tournament as the No. 1 seed and received a bye in the first round.

Despite their 20-6 season record, the Tigers did not receive an at-large bid to the tournament.

Four Tigers received SCAC season honors, including Kayla Mackel ‘26, Andie Will ‘26, Iliana Greene ‘29 and Rayna Welsch ‘29. Welsch was named SCAC First-Year Player, along with earning spots on the All-SCAC Second Team and All-Freshman Team. Greene was also named to the All-Freshman Team, while Mackel collected All-SCAC First Team honors and Will was named honorable mention.

Katherine Auguste, head coach, supported by assistant coaches Drew Mitchell and Lisa Guhl, claimed the Coaching Staff of the Year title.

Men’s Basketball: The Tigers fell in the SCAC quarterfinals 53-65 to Centenary College of Louisiana on Friday, Feb. 27, concluding a 12-14 season.

Asher Nofziger was honored with the SCAC men’s basketball Elite 19 award, which recognizes athletic and academic achievements. Nofziger was also appointed to the All-SCAC First Team, with teammates Russell MacFarlene ‘26, Gavin Carter ‘27 and Ty Hendler ‘27 collecting honorable mention titles.

Women’s Lacrosse: The No. 24 CC Tigers opened their 2026 season campaign in a decisive 19-3 win against Johnson & Wales University on Sunday, March 1. This is the Tigers’ first win under the direction of head coach Ashley Johnson.

Charlotte Iler ‘27 led the Tigers with six goals and one assist, while Grace Bean ‘26, Sofia Mancino ‘27, Meghan Collins ‘27, Riley Sterling ‘28, Maddie Jenks ‘29, Elsa Green ‘29, Paige Gerlach ‘29 and Beatrice Nace ‘29 scored the remaining 13. Goaltender Cassidy Schnauffer made four saves.

The Tigers host Kenyon College on Thursday, March 5, at 4 p.m. and No. 16 St. John Fisher University on Saturday, March 7, at 10 a.m.

Men’s Lacrosse: The 3-1 Tigers defeated John Carroll University 22-3 in their home opener on Tuesday, March 4. Aiden Niklaus ‘27 was critical to the Tigers’ victory, tallying four goals and three assists. Gavin Pope ‘27 followed with five points, and Matt Hudson ‘27 collected four. 

Other scoring Tigers include Luke Smith ‘26, Quinn Gordon ‘27, Wyatt Furda ‘27, Nick Bell ‘27, Logan Chapman ‘28, Liam Goodwin ‘28, Brooks Power ‘28, Matthew Collina ‘28 and Jake Andreski ‘29. 

The Tigers play the Wentworth Institute of Technology Leopards on Saturday, March 7, at 12:30 p.m., at Washburn Field.

Club Baseball: The Tigers opened their spring season on Saturday, Feb. 28, against CSU Pueblo in a triple-header. The CSU Pueblo Thunder Wolves defeated the Tigers in all three games, first 8-12, 9-10 and finally 5-16.

The Tigers play next on Saturday, March 7, and Sunday, March 8, at El Pomar Youth Complex against Colorado School of Mines.

Women’s Club Hockey: The Tigers celebrated their class of 2026 graduates on Friday, Feb. 27, at Ed Robson Arena against the Spicy Slots, winning 2-1. They played the following two days in an away tournament in Fort Collins, and according to captain Lilly Henderson ‘27, “we don’t need to talk about [it].”

Men’s Club Hockey: The Tigers played in four games over Feb. 27 and March 1, hosting Mines on Friday, Feb. 27, and Saturday, Feb. 28 at Ed Robson Arena, before traveling to Fort Collins to play the FC Flames – B1 and the University of Wyoming. The Catalyst could not confirm the scores.

Club Nordic Skiing: The Tigers traveled to Laramie, Wyo., on Feb. 28 and March 1 for the Birkie Race. USCSA Nationals will be hosted over Spring Break, however information about qualifying Tigers is not available.

Club Cutthroat Rugby: The Cutthroat Trout attended the crosstown U.S. Air Force Academy Tournament on Sunday, March 1. The Cutties defeated USAFA, Mines and University of Northern Colorado, but fell to the University of Wyoming.

Club Men’s Rugby: The Tigers played at the Mines Tournament on Sunday, March 1, in Golden. They lost all three of their tournament games, falling 7-17 against Boulder A, 12-17 to Mines and 10-12 to Colorado Mesa University B.

Zenith Club Ultimate Frisbee: Zenith co-hosted the 2026 Snow Melt Tournament on Feb. 28 and March 1 with Wasabi Ultimate Frisbee. Tournament scores could not be accessed by The Catalyst.

Wasabi Club Ultimate Frisbee: Wasabi Ultimate Frisbee hosted Brigham Young University B on Friday, Feb. 27 at Washburn Field before co-hosting the Snow Melt Tournament at El Pomar Sports Complex with Zenith on Feb. 28 and March 1. 

Wasabi played Michigan Technological University, Oklahoma Christian University, Northern Arizona University, Lewis & Clark College, Montana State University and the Boulder B team. They defeated Michigan Tech 13-4, Northern Arizona 15-13 and Montana State 15-11, but lost to Oklahoma Christian, Lewis & Clark and Boulder B.

Intramural Sports: According to Chris Starr, director of Campus Recreation, 27 teams competed in the Second Saturday Pickleball Series on Saturday, Feb. 28. I’ll Pickle Your Carrot took home the championship title as Graham McWeeny ‘26 and Cole Wenrich ‘26 dominated the Uintah Pickles.

Intramural ice broomball, softball, dodgeball and inner-tube water polo begin during Block 7.
