Men’s Hockey: The Colorado College Tigers lost in an overtime shootout on Friday, Feb. 20, and were shut out 0-2 the following night by the Western Michigan University Broncos. Mats Lindgren ‘29, the NCHC’s January defenseman of the month, scored the Tigers’ only goal of the weekend. Full series coverage is available in this edition of The Catalyst.
Kaidan Mbereko ‘26 and Ryan Alexander ‘26 were celebrated for Senior Night on Saturday, Feb. 21. The two are the only seniors rostered by CC this season.
The Tigers head into their final regular season series this week against the University of Minnesota Duluth in Duluth, Minn. Games will be available to watch on SOCO CW and NCHC.tv.
Women’s Basketball: Over the weekend, the CC Tigers punched their ticket to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) semifinals, earning a first-round bye. They are 15-1 against SCAC opponents and are the top seed in the Gold Division.
In their final weekend of the regular season on Feb. 20 through 22, they welcomed CCWBB alumni, family and supporters to celebrate both their alumni and current seniors.
On Friday, Feb. 20, the Tigers defeated Centenary College of Louisiana by a decisive 91-49 score. Kayla Mackel ‘26 led the Tigers with 22 points during the game and became just the 17th Tiger to reach 1,000 career points.
Two days later, the Tigers downed the LeTourneau University Yellowjackets 82-53, and celebrated the three rostered seniors: Mackel, Avery Johnson and Andie Will.
The Tigers appear next in the SCAC semifinals against the winner of the Hendrix College-McMurry University game. The semifinal game is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 28, at 4 p.m. MST in Conway, Ark., and will be available via FloCollege.
Men’s Basketball: The Tigers claimed two more wins over Feb. 20 and 22 to further their season record to 12-13, 10-6 against their SCAC opponents. They are currently third in the SCAC Gold Division and will play the Centenary Cyclones for the second time in a week on Friday, Feb. 27, in the conference quarterfinals.
CC beat Centenary 81-62 on Friday, Feb. 20. Asher Nofzinger scored 19 points in the game and had 11 rebounds. On Sunday, they clinched their second weekend win over the LeTourneau Yellowjackets in a narrow 75-73 victory.
On Sunday, CC celebrated their five seniors: Nofzinger, Noah Deitch, Russell MacFarlene, Orion Samikoglu and Kennedy Andrews. Just a day later, MacFarlene was named SCAC Defensive Player of the Week after totaling 29 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks over the weekend.
The Tigers appear next on Friday, Feb. 27, against the Cyclones in the SCAC quarterfinals at 11 a.m. MST in Conway, Ark. The game will be available via FloCollege.
Women’s Swimming & Dive: Keller Pooley ‘27, the SCAC Women’s Diver of the Year, will compete in Atlanta, Ga., in the NCAA Division III Region 2 Diving Championships over Feb. 27 and 28. Pooley won both the SCAC 1-meter and 3-meter titles earlier this month.
Men’s Swimming & Dive: Nico Rimer ‘27, the SCAC Men’s Diver of the Year, will compete in Atlanta, Ga., in the NCAA DIII Region 2 Diving Championships over Feb. 27 and 28. Rimer won the 3-meter SCAC championship and was second in the 1-meter category earlier this month.
Andrew Colgan ‘28 and Sam Allen ‘28 represented the CC Tigers on Saturday, Feb. 21, in the Emory Invitational in Atlanta, Ga. Allen finished 7th in the Men’s 100 Yard Butterfly and 4th in the 200 Yard Backstroke. Colgan finished 6th in the 200 Yard Breaststroke. Both attended with hopes of qualifying for the 2026 NCAA DIII Swimming & Diving Championships. Neither qualified for the national championships during the Emory Invitational.
Women’s Indoor Track & Field: Alison Mueller-Hickler ‘26 broke her own indoor 3K school record at the Colorado Last Chance Indoor Qualifier on Friday, Feb. 20, in Boulder, running a 9:58.88 3K and finishing 5th overall. According to CC Athletics, Mueller-Hickler became the first woman at CC to break the 10-minute mark. She currently holds the school indoor 5K and indoor 3000-meter records, in addition to the 3K record.
Hannah Falk ‘28 finished the women’s 3K in ninth place at the Colorado Last Chance Indoor Qualifier. Thalia Goessling ‘29, Clara Lippert ‘26, Zaniya Bruno Munn ‘27 and Clara Kirr ‘28 all finished within the top ten of their respective events.
Riley Webb ‘29, Emma Jones ‘26, Alina Miranda ‘27 and Lippert won the 4×400 relay with an overall time of 4:07.70.
Men’s Indoor Track & Field: Joshua Williams ‘26 set his fifth individual school record on Friday, Feb. 20, at the Colorado Last Chance Indoor Qualifier in the 400-meter, finishing third overall. Williams has set the school record in the 200-meter three times, twice in the 100-meter, once in the 400-meter, and was part of both record-setting 4×400 and 4×100 relay teams.
Women’s Lacrosse: The CC Tigers open their 2026 season campaign on Sunday, March 1, against Johnson & Wales University on Washburn Field at 1 p.m. MST. After winning two consecutive Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) tournament championships, the Tigers enter their first weekend under Ashley Johnson, their second program head coach.
Men’s Lacrosse: The Tigers downed the Adams State University Grizzlies for a 21-10 home opener on Friday, Feb. 21, at Washburn Field. Fourteen Tigers collected at least one goal during the game.
They opened scoring, pulling ahead 14-2 by halftime. Nick Johnson ‘27 led the Tigers with three goals and three assists, followed by Aidan Niklaus ‘27 with two goals and one assist. Luke Smith ‘26, Elliot Muska ‘29, Jake Andreski ‘29 and Will Honey ‘29 collected multiple points against the Grizzlies.
Charlie Faldi ‘26, Wyatt Furda ‘27, Trevor Flynn ‘27, Liam Goodwin ‘28, Brooks Power ‘28, Matthew Collina ‘28, Bryce Ferguson ‘29 and Lucas Obringer ‘29 rounded out the remaining goals for the Tigers with one a piece.
Two weeks into their season, the Tigers will welcome John Carroll University to Washburn on Tuesday, March 3, at 5:15 p.m.
Club Figure Skating: The Tigers competed at the University of Denver from Feb. 20 through 22. Results are not available online.
Club Baseball: The Tigers begin their 2026 spring season on Saturday, Feb. 28, against Colorado State University (CSU) Pueblo at the El Pomar Youth Complex at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Women’s Club Hockey: The Tigers host this weekend on Friday, Feb. 27, at 6:30 p.m., before traveling to Fort Collins on Feb. 28 and March 1.
Men’s Club Hockey: The Tigers will play on Friday, Feb. 27, at 8:30 p.m., and Saturday, Feb. 28, at 3:45 p.m., against Colorado School of Mines at Ed Robson Arena. They are then scheduled to play the FC Flames and the University of Wyoming in Fort Collins on Sunday, March 1, at 8:30 a.m. and 11:45 a.m.
Club Nordic Skiing: The Tigers head to Laramie, Wyo., on Feb. 28 and March 1 for the Birkie Race. This will be their third consecutive weekend of travel.
Club Cutthroat Rugby: The Cutthroat Trout are set to play at the U.S. Air Force Academy in the USAFA Tournament on Sunday, March 1. Time is still to be determined.
Club Men’s Rugby: The Tigers played at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) on Thursday, Feb. 19. Game results are not available online.
They travel next to Golden for the Mines Tournament on Sunday, March 1. The game is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.
Zenith Club Ultimate Frisbee: Zenith will attend the Snow Melt Tournament on Feb. 28 and March 1 at the El Pomar Sports Complex in Colorado Springs. They will play at 8 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
Wasabi Club Ultimate Frisbee: Wasabi hosts Brigham Young University B on Friday, Feb. 27, at 7 p.m., and will attend the Snow Melt Tournament the following two days at the El Pomar Sports Complex in Colorado Springs. They are set to play at 8 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Intramural Sports: Second Saturday Pickleball Tournament is set for Feb. 28, and registrations close on Thursday, Feb. 26 at 5 p.m. Play will begin on Saturday at 11 a.m.
IM ice broomball, basketball and indoor futsal continue through Block 6.
