First-year student Elijah Kreiss is developing TigerWellness.org, what he calls an “all-in-one student wellness platform” for Colorado College students that he hopes to turn into an official CC service.

The web app features a variety of resources uniquely tailored to users based on their personal wellness goals, including workout and nutrition plans directly tied to the dining halls on campus. It also includes information about campus and local events and local scholarship information. He’s also building a way for students to find free meals around campus.

Kreiss was inspired by his own struggles about keeping himself accountable and motivated to go to the gym and eat healthily every day.

“It’s not a laziness thing,” Kreiss said in an interview. “It’s just time consuming.”

He realized that many students were probably feeling the similar frustrations with the amount of time they were spending on building workout plans and tracking nutrition, so he decided to share the tool he created for himself with his fellow students.

Next, Kreiss wants Colorado College to officially adopt Tiger Wellness.

“I need this to get picked up by the school sooner rather than later,” he said about the app for which he pays $30 a month to keep running. “It’s definitely a one-man show, but I’m figuring it out. I’m having fun.”

Despite the costs, he has high hopes for the future. Through currently working on getting support from the college, he hopes that more students will start to use the service and that he can eventually scale it to other schools.
