Men’s Hockey: 

The Colorado College Tigers are 10-11-3 (4-7-3 in conference) and continue conference play this week. Last weekend, the Tigers split an away series against University of Nebraska-Omaha, who are tied with the Tigers for last place in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC). The Tigers lost 3-1 on Jan. 23, but flipped the score to win 3-1 a day later on Jan. 24. 

Senior Kaidan Mbereko and sophomore Owen Beckner have been nominated for the Hobey Baker Award, presented annually to the collegiate hockey player who best demonstrates strength of character both on and off the ice, contributes to the integrity of his team and displays outstanding skills in all phases of the game. 

The Tigers face off against the Arizona State Sun Devils at home in Ed Robson Arena at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 30, then at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31. 

Women’s Basketball:

The Tigers are in the midst of an eight-game win streak, holding a record of 13-4 (8-0 in conference). They dismantled McMurry 85-63 on Jan. 23, then overwhelmed Schreiner 70-41 on Jan 25. Senior Kayla Mackel had a big night against McMurry, scoring 30 points on 12-20 shooting, a career high. 

On Friday, Jan. 30, the Tigers will look to continue their streak with an away game at 7:30 p.m. CT against Concordia University Texas. On Saturday, Jan. 31 they will face their biggest test of conference play so far, traveling to Seguin, Texas to play Texas Lutheran University, also undefeated in conference play. 

Men’s Basketball:

The Tigers now hold a record of 7-10 (5-3 in conference) and continue Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) play this week. The Tigers beat McMurry University 80-67 on Jan. 23, then took down Schreiner University 96-65 on Jan. 25. In the game against Schreiner, senior Asher Nofziger had a game-high 21 points, good enough to become the 24th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points. 

The Tigers continue SCAC play this week, traveling to Texas for a tough test against undefeated in conference Concordia University Texas at 5:30 p.m. CT on Jan. 30. The Tigers then have a short turnaround before playing Texas Lutheran University at 4 p.m. CT on Jan. 31.

Men’s & Women’s Track and Field: 

Seniors Alison Mueller-Hickler and Josh Williams each set a school record at the Colorado Invitational Indoor Track and Field Meet on Jan. 24. Mueller-Hickler placed ninth in the 3K with a time of 10:12.25, topping the previous record of 10:33.12 set last year by Charlie Flint. Williams beat his own record by 0.02 of a second, finishing in the 200 with a time of 21.47. 

Freshman Riley Webb and senior Clara Lippert each finished in the top-10. Webb placed second in the 600-meter with a time of 1:44.11, while Lippert finished ninth in the 200-meter with a time of 26.84 seconds. 

The Tigers will run again on Friday, Feb. 6, at the Colorado Classic in Boulder.

Men’s Swim & Dive:

The Tigers now prepare for the SCAC Championships, held in Garland, Texas from Feb. 11-14. 

Women’s Swim & Dive:

Club Sports: 

CC’s Club Equestrian team will compete this weekend at MM Ranch in Fountain. 

Intramurals: 

Sign-ups are still open for Block 5’s Second Saturday Series event, the SS Regatta, on Jan. 31. The Regatta is a cardboard boat race across Schlessman Pool with prizes for the first to make it across (Speed Boat Award), the most spectacular sinking (Titanic Award) and for the best design and theme (Boeing Super Max). Boat building can begin as early as 11 a.m. on Jan. 31 and the race will start a little after 2 p.m.

Block 4 Open Basketball Tournament Final was delayed until last week, where Balls-aholics defeated Backcourt Beauties for the shirts. IM Basketball and Futsal Leagues continued this week and will run through Block 6.
