Disclaimer: I am not a sex addict. I am writing this column for the benefit of others because this idea was meant to be shared with the world (Colorado College).

Hi readers!

This week is a little different from what I normally write, but nevertheless important to continue to destigmatize and embrace sex!

TedSex, a series of presentations focusing on topics of sex and sexuality, is making a comeback at Colorado College! Natasha Finklestein ‘25, Mira Springer ‘25 and Bella Nevin ‘25 are working to revive the once-loved tradition at CC. This group contacted the Wellness Resource Center and Butler Center, who previously hosted this biannual event, vocalizing their interest in bringing TedSex back to CC.

Finklestein said, “TedSex used to be a huge event at CC.” Although it hasn’t been around since her freshman year, she remembers it being very popular.

“I haven’t forgotten how impactful they were in creating a space for open, safe and thoughtful discussions about sexuality,” she said.

Like the purpose of this column, TedSex wants to bring back discourse on sex, sexuality and pleasure at CC, a topic that has grown quiet over recent years. The event aims to destigmatize the topic of sex and reduce shame while making everyone feel comfortable and safe.

The Student Organization for Sexual Safety (SOSS) used to run TedSex, however, they disbanded last school year in 2023. SOSS used to host information sessions regarding sexual safety and support groups to survivors of sexual assault. Follow the SOSS Instagram for more information and to show support to bring this back: @sosscoloradocollege

To bring this event back to CC, the student body needs your help! TedSex relies on students, faculty, staff and community members to present on the topic of their choosing (sex related, of course). This could be a lesson on how to send nudes, locating parts of the female and male genitalia or how to use a condom! Click this link or scan the QR code to pitch your idea! Submissions close March 10, so make sure you sign up!

Presentations will occur on April 7 from 7 p.m. through 9 p.m. in Bemis Great Hall. There will be prizes (maybe you’ll win a vibrator or some glow-in-the-dark condoms).

As always, please remember to always practice safe sex between you and your partner!
