Hello readers and welcome back to Beer for Babes.

This week we tried another sour from Prairie Artisan Ales called Rainbow Sherbert (5.2% ABV). As our loyal readers may recall, we tried their sour candy variety pack last semester and were sick of the sweetness by the end. This one was slightly more bearable, but we still felt a little queasy after drinking what Prairie advertises as “a sour ale that tastes like a melted rainbow sherbet ice cream cone.”

In our opinion, it doesn’t seem like the best selling point – who likes melted ice cream?

Anyway, enough hate because this beer honestly wasn’t that bad. This is probably due to the fact that it did not taste like rainbow sherbert. Also, given that we don’t really find Rainbow Sherbert to be that sour, we found it a strange choice to choose this as a tart flavor.

In the wise words of Ella Simons ‘25, “It tastes like the bitch cup,” as in, there was just too much going on! The sour, yeasty flavor was hard to pin down as anything in particular, and by our third beer, it started to have a malty aftertaste like a Truly; that is never a good sign when you are drinking a beer that costs almost $15 for a pack of four.

This Truly malt liquor taste, however, did assist us in the chug. Izzy did not do well (what a surprise) due to her eventful Parents Weekend with Shelley and Rob (shoutout Rob’s margaritas). On the other hand, Megan drank almost half the can. Delta Mu Recruitment has been getting to her – she needed the release.

On that note, this beer paired well with reflections on Delta Mu’s history: how Izzy only got in because they called her the “hot freshman” and how scary it is going through recruitment both as a member of Delta Mu and as there are secrets the public cannot know. It also paired well with reflecting on how Simons only tore her ACL because she’s so goated at skiing that her ACL just couldn’t take it and how Izzy’s dad doesn’t think Megan’s relationship is going to last because her boyfriend is “shorter than her.” Put some respect on his name.

What has always drawn us to Prairie Artisan Ales has been their impeccable can design. While we can never do them justice, just know that Prairie Artisan’s graphic designer needs a raise and a back massage. They are carrying this brewery’s sales.

Overall, from this brewery, Blueberry Boyfriend, which we have not had on Beer for Babes, is at the top of our Prairie Artisan Ales pyramid. Rainbow Sherbert fell short of our expectations but was still an efficient way to get drunk.
