Happy Homecoming, Tigers!

Hockey: The No. 8 Colorado College Tiger Hockey team raised their season record to 4-0-0 on Oct. 25 and 26 in Anchorage, Alaska. Despite missing star Noah Laba ‘26 to an ankle injury, according to his dad, the Tigers rose above the University of Alaska Anchorage 2-1 on Friday and 2-0 the following night.

Kaidan Mbereko ‘26 earned his first National Collegiate Hockey Conference goaltender of the week accolade of the season following his weekend performance. Mbereko, an All-American honoree, celebrated his first shutout victory since March 2023 on Oct. 26.

The Tigers, ranked No. 8 in the Division I hockey polls, face a home-and-home series this weekend against the Air Force Academy. They look to retain the Pikes Peak Trophy for the sixth year in a row, beginning at Ed Robson Arena on Friday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. The Tigers finish the series at Air Force on Saturday, Nov. 2.

Women’s Soccer: Women’s soccer secured their first win in seven games on Oct. 25 against San Jose State and claimed their second consecutive victory three days later on Oct. 27 to Fresno State at Stewart Field. They won in two shutout victories, 3-0 to San Jose and 1-0 to Fresno State.

Brett Tsamasfryos ‘25 became the first Tiger in five years to have more than five goals in a season after scoring one of the three against San Jose. Rookie Finley Schoenbeck ‘28 trails Tsafmasfryos with four goals. 

The wins were made even sweeter as the team honored their 11 seniors on Sunday, Oct. 27. 

The Tigers conclude their regular season on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Weidner Field, home to the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, in the City of Champions Cup against Air Force. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. 

Men’s Soccer: Men’s soccer broke their eight-game win streak on Oct. 27, tying Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) opponent Trinity University 1-1. The tie, both teams’ first in conference play this year, followed a 5-0 win against Schreiner University on Friday, Oct. 25, bringing the team to their eighth succeeding shutout win. The Tigers have totaled 43 goals this season compared to the five they’ve allowed. 

Dylan Rich ‘27 was named SCAC Character and Community Athlete of the Week on Oct. 30. The award honors student-athletes “who excel in the field of athletics and also serve their campus and community,” according to CC Tiger Athletics

Men’s soccer closes their regular season this weekend on Nov. 1 and 3 against Austin College and the University of Dallas at Stewart Field. Their senior day will take place on Sunday against Dallas at noon.

Volleyball: Volleyball continued their hot streak, tallying three weekend wins. Their road trip to Texas over Oct. 26 and 27 yielded three shutout victories to McMurry University, the University of Dallas and Centenary College. The Tigers are now 15-8.

Camille Sherrill ‘27 earned her second Offensive Player of the Week title in three weeks and led the Tigers past all three opponents. She had 36 total weekend kills and averaged 4.8 points per set.

Cross Country: Both men’s and women’s cross country travel to Shreveport, La., on Saturday, Nov. 2, for the SCAC Championship. The women’s program is the three-time reigning conference champions, while the men’s team has won the past five conference championships.

Swim & Dive: Swim and dive host their Alumni Meet on Saturday, Nov. 2, at Schlessman Natatorium. The meet is scheduled to start at 10 a.m.

Basketball: With their 2024-2025 seasons fast approaching, men’s basketball was voted No. 3 in the SCAC preseason coaches poll on Oct. 30, while women’s basketball logged in at No. 2 the previous day.

The women’s team fell just six points short of the conference championship last season, while men’s basketball lost their championship campaign by seven points. With top point-scoring players returning, the teams look to further last season’s success in two weeks when their 2024-2025 run starts. 

Men’s Lacrosse: Like swim and dive, Colorado College’s men’s lacrosse program host their 2024 Alumni Game for Homecoming Weekend on Saturday, Nov. 2. Their game is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.

Rugby: Both rugby teams are also participating in Homecoming Weekend festivities, with consecutive Homecoming games on Friday night. The Cutthroat (Cutties) women’s rugby starts the evening at 6 p.m. against Air Force and will be followed by the men’s team at 8 p.m. against neighboring University of Colorado, Colorado Springs on Nov. 1. 

According to one Cutties player, there may be a keg in the Washburn Field stands for attendees. 

Women’s Club Soccer: Women’s club soccer concluded their 2024 season on Saturday, Oct. 26, with a win against Air Force, and celebrated their seniors in their final game. While they received a bid to the Region V post-season tournament, the Tigers have decided not to attend.

Women’s Club Hockey: The women’s club hockey team lost their first game 4-0. 

Men’s Club Hockey: With a weekend series against the Colorado Mesa University Mavericks, the men’s club hockey team experiencing devastating home losses. The Mavericks ran past the Tigers, and the home team finished 0-9 on Oct. 25 and 1-9 on Oct. 26. The Mavericks are American Collegiate Hockey Association Divison III participants. 

Intramurals: The year’s first coveted IM championship shirts will be claimed in days, with flag football, soccer and volleyball playoffs in full swing. Flag football semifinals are scheduled for Nov. 5 and will feature the No. 1, 2, 3 and 5-seeded teams. 

IM pickleball returns to campus as this Block’s Second Saturday Series on Saturday, Nov. 2. The doubles tournament is an IM hit, and registration closes on Thursday, Oct. 31 at 5 p.m.
