Men’s Soccer: Men’s soccer fell from No. 3, their highest national ranking in program history, to No. 7 over the weekend. They tallied their second tie and first loss of the year in Newport News, Va., after drawing a 1-1 tie to Christopher Newport University and a 0-1 loss to the University of Mary Washington. “Overall, this trip was a tremendous experience for our group and will strengthen us as we prepare for league play next week,” head coach Scott Palguta told CC Athletics

Men’s soccer opens its conference campaign on Saturday, Sept. 28, against the University of St. Thomas at Stewart Field.

Women’s Soccer: After two weeks between games, women’s soccer faces their first Mountain West opponent on Thursday, Sept. 26 against the University of Wyoming. The 4-4-1 Tigers are undefeated at home and looking to add a fifth consecutive Stewart Field victory. Thursday is Black Out Night at Stewart Field, and kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. MST.

The Tigers will play the Colorado State University Rams on Sunday at home. Traveling from Fort Collins, Colo., the Rams were voted third of the 12 women’s soccer teams in the Mountain West preseason polls and sit 4-3-1 overall this year. The University of Wyoming is 2-3-3.

Volleyball: Colorado College volleyball claimed their first conference victory and furthered their winning streak to three uninterrupted wins against the University of St. Thomas in a 3-0 sweep on Sept. 20. While on-campus for Block Break, Sharon Dingman, head coach, praised her team’s resilience.

“Our players were so focused all week, and we talked before the match about taking everything we used during the week and put it into the match, and that’s what we did,” Dingman shared with CC Athletics.

Megan Gannon ‘27 earned her second career SCAC defensive player of the week accolade on Sept. 23. The sophomore libero led Friday’s game with 20 digs and three assists, bringing her season digs to 154.

Cross Country: Women’s cross country finished Sept. 21’s John McNichols Invitational as the top DIII team, beating No. 1 NYU and No. 2 University of Chicago. Seniors Isabel Olson and Sydney Rankin helped secure the Tigers’ victory. Olson was named SCAC women’s runner of the week after finishing second for DIII runners.

On Sept. 25, the women’s program jumped 16 spots in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) polls, clenching No. 1. Their 16-position rise was the largest jump to No. 1 in USTFCCA’s history, regardless of division and marks women’s cross country’s first-time leading national rankings.

Vincent Mangat ‘28 ran a 25:33.9 8K at the John McNichols Invitational, earning his first SCAC runner-of-the-week title on Sept. 24. With both weekly accolades, the Tigers swept their conference honors for the second time in three weeks. The men’s team finished 12 at the John McNichols Invitational and split its squad between Indiana and the Metro State Invitational in Denver.

Club Climbing: Sophomores Benn Wheeler and Sonia Guiterrez represented Colorado College at the International University Sports Federation (FISU) University World Championships in Koper, Slovenia. Wheeler and Guiterrez qualified in May and spent Sept. 9 through 12 amongst 400 international collegiate climbers. Wheeler finished twentieth in bouldering, while Guiterrez placed seventeenth in speed climbing.

Looking Ahead: Women’s soccer, men’s soccer and volleyball play at home next. Newly ranked No. 11 hockey opens their season on Oct. 5 with non-exhibition games starting on Oct. 11.
