Welcome back to a very special edition of Beer for Babes we call ‘the debate.’ We decided the best thing to do to celebrate democracy was to drink beer during the presidential debate. And boy, do we recommend this to everyone when the next debate rolls around, which may not be for another four years, unfortunately. The beer we decided to pair with this occasion was the Tenth Orbit Rice IPA which was shockingly not at all rice-y and kinda just tasted like a normal IPA. Unfortunately, because we were unprepared for this one, it was also warm. This made drinking these quickly, extremely difficult.

Megan chose this beer for this week’s article because of her dear dad, Buzz, who sells rice. We think that he would be very disappointed by the lack of rice flavor, so we will try to find a more rice-forward one for the day that he is invited to be a special guest. But anyway, back to the beer. Shockingly, Izzy had an easier time with this beer than Megan which was a first. To be fair this is the highest-percent beer that we have done so far as a team, so Megan wasn’t quite used to it yet.

This week, the greatest pairing of all was critiquing the debate. Trump made it difficult to drink because we were yelling at the TV or just getting straight up confused while he was talking, which distracted us a bit from the task at hand. But the drinking game that went along with the debate kept us on track; we drank every time Trump said “immigration” and every time Harris had to correct him on a false statistic. But this game unfortunately did not aid us in the chugging of this beer. The warm IPA on a full stomach is a curse I would wish on no other and our chug reflected that.

All in all, we probably would not repurchase this beer. Not because we didn’t like it but just because it wasn’t quite our type of beer. However, we would drink to the presidential debate any day. Everyone who has read to this point GO REGISTER TO VOTE!

See you next week!

 Xoxo,
