Welcome to a very special edition of Beer for Babes. We want to introduce you to Tia’s new apprentice: Megan!! This week Megan took over Tia’s place in our beer tasting (Tia was feeling like she needed to give her liver some rest after spring break). So, this week we drank Decadent Ales’ Lil’ Gushym which was an IPA with orange puree. We went in not quite knowing what to expect, and yet we weren’t surprised by the results. It wasn’t bad, but it definitely wasn’t good. We would say it was just “mid.” We will give it props, however, that it did not taste like a 6.2% beer although went down fairly smooth in the beginning.

The reason that we selected this beer, and every other beer we have ever reviewed, is the can. This can was very simple and to the point, just announcing “lil gushy,” then having a tropicana-like orange logo in the middle with lots of white space around it. It did resemble the same look as that one girl that redesigns companies’ logos horribly on TikTok drew it. But nonetheless we were intrigued.

The gushiness that we were promised by the can did not translate into the beer’s taste. Instead of being ushy-gushy like we expected it to be, it was more like a little wet and maybe excited. It did not deliver on the fruity front at all. We were hoping for a fun girly little sour-like beer, but it was just a regular fucking IPA with the slightest hint of orange. They completely missed their opportunity to utilize the orange and make it fun and a smooth beer. Megan did, however, like the orange aspect as a Blue Moon lover.

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: we aren’t a fan of sours. But maybe even worse, we don’t like when the same beer is made repeatedly. If you say ushy-gushy—make it ushy-gushy for God’s sake.

Anyway, Megan, thank you for taking on the lifelong role of being a beer babe. We are so excited to have you on board.
