COLORADO

• The money for Colorado’s space control project is now going to President Donald Trump’s border wall instead. (DenPo)

• Adams County tightened oil and gas regulations, the first county to do so since Colorado Senate Bill 181 passed. (DenPo)

• Challenge of the National Popular Vote compact, which was signed into law earlier this year, will be on Colorado’s 2020 ballot. (KDVR)

• As school classrooms in Denver hit 90 degrees Fahrenheit, teachers, faculty, students, and parents gathered in front of Denver Public Schools headquarters on the evening of Sept. 2 to demand relief for students and staff. On Monday, the temperature reached 100 degrees Fahrenheit, the first time in recorded history that Colorado temperatures have been that high in September. (DenPo)

• On Aug. 31, in Midland-Odessa, Texas, a man shot 22 people, killing seven as he drove through the streets. In Mobile, Ala., nine teens were injured when gunfire erupted at 9:30 p.m. On Aug. 30 at a high school football game. Last weekend was a heavy one for mass shootings. (Axios)

• A diving boat off the coast of Southern California caught fire on Sept. 2. Of the 39 passengers on the boat, only five survived — all of whom were crew members. (LosAngelesTimes)

• Walmart announced it will stop selling handgun and military style ammunition after two shootings in its stores this summer alone. (CNBC)

WORLD

• Hurricane Dorian pummeled the Bahamas for 24 hours as a category five storm, killing at least five people and leaving 70,000 people in need of immediate humanitarian Relief. It was the strongest hurricane to ever hit the island, leaving about 60% of the land underwater a day later and as many as 13,000 houses damaged. The Hurricane is expected to hit the eastern Florida coast as a category two storm. (WeatherChannel)

  A study found that genes account for perhaps a third of the influence on whether someone experiences same sex attraction, along with social and environmental factors. (Science)
