By THE PRISON PROJECT
The Prison Project frequently advocates for the rights of inmates around the country. In addition to the Incarcerated Writers series, this week they have asked The Catalyst to share information on their upcoming phone zap:
Jason Walker is an incarcerated activist in Texas, currently facing severe racist abuse by guards. He was denied medical care, prevented from attending his own hearing, and is currently in solitary confinement. Walker asked us to advocate for him and demand justice. We are flooding his prison with phone calls this Tuesday, Dec.11. We need to call all day, as much as possible, to demand justice for Walker. Please take one minute on Tuesday to call the warden Kelly Strong: (936-295-5756) and use the following script:
“I’m calling regarding inmate Jason Renard Walker, #1532092, who was attacked by staff at Ellis Unit. He is now threatened with a false disciplinary charge. Furthermore, he is being prevented from attending his own hearing for this charge. I demand that he be allowed to attend the hearing, and that there be a full independent review of all relevant surveillance footage. I also demand the return of all items confiscated from him and that he be released from solitary confinement immediately.”
