Haven’t you heard? The Wild Goose Meeting House, an off-campus oasis for Colorado College students, is expanding. Not only does this mean an added 20 to 30 seats, perfect for studying or for your dream Tinder date, but the expansion also creates a larger venue area for live music. Jamie Peng, a senior at CC who has worked at the Wild Goose for over a year, gave us the scoop on what this means for the Goose’s relationship with CC students looking to migrate off campus.

In the past, CC has had a “strong positive relationship” with the Wild Goose, particularly in the days before fourth week, when sleep-deprived students flock for great coffee and a productive atmosphere.

“A lot of our regulars are CC students,” says Peng, alluding to the welcoming feeling the Goose provides students. “The Goose never feels rowdy.” The Wild Goose has balanced social environment, somewhere between a coffeehouse and a bar. This meeting house is perfect for a day spent cranking out a notorious one-night paper or relaxing with a few friends over wine.

Specifically, the expansion of the Goose will allow more people to enjoy the environment at once, as they are knocking out the “nest”—where the couches previously sat—and expanding into the old beauty salon next door. Before, most could agree that seating was an issue for those wanting to partake in the “camping” culture at the Goose. No, this does not refer to people pitching a tent and starting a fire, but rather to those who camp out all day with a continuous flow of coffee and too many books, papers, and electronic devices around them.

The expansion also allows the back kitchen to grow, giving employees more elbow room and comfort. With this new space also comes a new source of meat. Previously, the Goose’s meat was supplied by Ranch Food Direct; now, all of their deli meat is fresh and sliced in house. The already extensive craft beer and wine list will continue on the standard of high-quality food and drink at the Goose, creating an oasis for students and non-students alike.

The Wild Goose’s Facebook page is a great place to watch the expansion in progress and stay up to date on music happenings. Be sure to check out all of the wonderful things taking place over on the corner of Tejon and Boulder Street. You won’t want to miss their beautiful combination of coffee and cozy.
