Last year’s Battle of the Bands event proved to be extremely successful, rowdy, and full of great vibes. This year it’s back with some new bands and old favorites. With the introduction of BumbleBeast and Ominous Animals as well as the return of Drunk Uncle, Funkdozer, and Touch It, it should be a great experience to witness just how talented students on this campus are. Round one of the event takes place from March 26 to 28. The bands will battle from 8:20 p.m.-11:30 p.m. on Thursday, 7:40 p.m.-11:30 p.m. on Friday, and 8:20 p.m.-11:30 p.m. on Saturday. Be sure to check out what has now become a quintessential CC event.

In the spirit of giving new bands an opportunity to show their talents and compete on the scale of bands that already have a big following, I interviewed the new band Bumblebeast.

Q: Who is in the band?

A: Trevon Newmann and Rachel Burdorf on vocals, Mark Foreman on guitar, Xoco Sanchez on bass, Aidan Hendrickson on piano. We are all freshman.

Q: How would you describe your sound?

A: Let’s go with alternative rock because we have no idea what we actually sound like.

Q: How are rehearsals and the music making process?

A: Rehearsals are 30 percent actual music, 60 percent arguing, and 10 percent Spongebob references. Everyone writes songs independently with various levels of collaboration.

Q: How are you preparing for Battle of the Bands? What can we expect to see?

A: We’re hoping to get a drummer. Expect to see some human beings on stage attempting to play music.

Q: Current Favorite Song from Each Member?

A: Mark: Nevermore – “Heart Collector”

Tre: Nightwish – “Chest of Wonders”

Xoco: Teddybears – “Cobrastyle”

Rachel: Two Steps from Hell – “For the Win”

Q: Any last words?

A: Needs more cowbell.
