A much-needed storm brought a lot of snow to the Rockies after an abnormally warm February. Last week and weekend brought, debatably, the best snow we have had since the New Year. This storm sent many Colorado College students up to the mountains to catch the fresh snow.
Here is the report of new snow that has fallen this week. Silverton, Wolf Creek, and Aspen have received the most with 27 new inches of snow. Coming in second is Crested Butte with 25 inches, and third is Beaver Creek with 22 inches. Monarch and Vail got 17 inches each. On the Epic Pass, Breckenridge is third with 12 inches, followed by A-Basin and Keystone, each with 8 inches. On the Copper and Winter Park Pass, Copper got the most with 11 inches, and Winter Park has 8 inches of new snow. Telluride got 16 inches. Lastly, Steamboat received 16 inches.
However, you shouldn’t get too excited. It looks as though the best snow of this block has already passed. A five-day forecast shows warm temperatures and no new snow through Sunday. Luckily, the first day of spring is March 20, and that is when Colorado gets the most of its snow. I would recommend staying close this weekend, studying for fourth week, and then burning some skis or praying to Ullr, the Viking god of snow, for some good spring powder.
