If you are looking for a summer internship or a job after graduation, then Don Bricker, the new Associate Director of the Career Center, is a great resource to talk to.

“I think it’s an exciting job market right now,” said Bricker. “It’s improving, and there is a broadening range of jobs out there.”

Don Bricker is excited to have recently joined the Colorado College Career Center. Bricker has more than 30 years of management experience, mostly in positions that include recruitment.

Prior to CC, Bricker worked in publishing at Shaw Media in Illinois. He has a strong background in news media and valuable experience in Colorado Springs working as the Vice President for The Gazette.

Bricker’s job at Colorado College involves managing the day-to-day operations of the Career Center.

He oversees the Career Counselors and makes sure the daily functions of the Center run smoothly. In addition, he assists the Director in areas of strategy for the Center.

Bricker says, “I am involved in executing parts of the Strategic Plan that incorporate the Career Center and in helping bridge relationships on campus.”

Bricker explained that the Career Center is heading in a very positive direction. “We focus on helping students develop professional skills and manage the employment or internship process,” said Bricker. The center also focuses on helping students tell their stories more effectively.

Although most of the Career Center’s efforts go toward assisting current undergraduates, the resource also helps alums.

Bricker explained that the Center is hoping to take a broader approach to help students acquire experience.

They hope to do this by assisting students in honing in on what interests them and helping them manage the process of finding relevant positions to these interests. In addition, they are able to help students with more specific aspects like interviews, résumés, and cover letters.

Bricker advised Colorado College students to make an appointment at the Career Center.

He says, “If you are currently looking for a summer opportunity or a post-graduation job, now is the time be proactive and make an appointment at the Career Center.”

He commented that being able to work through a variety of different fields is difficult, but the Career Center is familiar with these fields and can help navigate the process.
