It’s easy to get stuck in the Colorado College bubble and become completely unaware of all the happenings that are occurring in the greater Colorado Springs area.
Luckily, in addition to all the events occurring on campus, IvyWild is bringing in renowned music acts that provide opportunities for the community to come together and experience good music without having to travel too far.
This Friday, Feb. 20, Ivywild is bringing Israel Nash and Dino Belli who will be performing many of their hits starting at 8 p.m. On my first listen to Israel Nash, the music immediately reminded me of many of the genres I cycled through as a young teenager and many of the reasons why I initially came to have such an interest in music. The lead singer Israel Nash’s raspy voice combined with a psychedelic guitar and harmonica effectively mix country, rock, and indie in a way that i s refreshing.
If you have ever heard of the local Colorado band, The Flumps, get excited because Dino Belli is the lead singer of that group. Before you do a Youtube search of The Flumps, just as a warning, you’ll probably get results full of potato looking characters from a BBC children program. Don’t be discouraged. Instead, search and listen to “Sunshine” or “Just As Well.” Both of these songs, especially if you watch the live version of “Just As Well” performed at The Charles Mansion, seem to capture the essence of Dino Belli.
If you’re free Friday, definitely go check out and support Israel Nash. Not to mention, Dino Belli, a local musician. It’s always a privilege to engage with the artists around us. It costs only between $10 and $12 for a fun music-filled night, and it’s an opportunity you definitely do not want to miss.
