Her belly button might not have been the safest stash spot.

A woman who Colorado Springs Police arrested late Saturday was charged with additional crimes after officers allegedly found methamphetamine in her navel, according to a news release.

An officer responding to reports of a motor vehicle theft on the 300 block of Murray Boulevard around 10:30 p.m. located the stolen vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. Police say they developed probable cause to arrest a male and female for motor vehicle theft.

“When the female was taken to [the El Paso County Jail], officers located methamphetamine in her navel,” police said.

The man, 18-year-old Arturo Velasquez was charged with motor vehicle theft and other charges. The woman, 28-year-old Michelle Rendon, was charged with motor vehicle theft, possession of a schedule II substance, and introduction of contraband into a detention facility.
