A Colorado College Campus Safety officer was injured Sunday morning when teenagers in a stolen car hit his golf cart during a police chase, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.
Around 9:30 a.m., the fleeing vehicle struck the stopped cart near the intersection of Cascade Ave. and Uintah St. The Campus Safety Officer was treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries, police said.
Police officers were dispatched to an area northeast of campus regarding a stolen vehicle out of Denver. Authorities tracked the car through an OnStar alert system which revealed that the vehicle was in the downtown area, according to a news release.
Police eventually spotted the car and attempted to make a traffic stop when the suspects fled northbound on Cascade Ave. towards CC.
After striking the Campus Safety Officer, the driver abandoned the vehicle in a parking lot near the intersection and fled on foot. Police arrested two juveniles, both from the Denver area, near where the car was abandoned.
Police have not released charges against the suspects in custody.
Campus Safety and the college could not be immediately reached for comment Sunday night.
