Hello loyal readers, and welcome back to an extra-special edition of Beer for Babes.
This week is really monumental because we have been working on a special collaboration for you.
We came into this special opportunity because Haley decided to run her mouth at Tony’s, as per usual, but this time it ended in success. Networking is in. All this to say, we received special early access to the Stunt Double Strong Lager, a new brand released under Monster Brewing. Clocking in at 8% alcohol by volume (ABV,) the girls were excited for a strong but chuggable lager. Especially Haley, who typically has to use an IPA to reach that percentage.
Besides having a taste at Tony’s many Tuesdays ago, the girls were eager to get our hands on the can to review this beer truly.
First impressions were strong. This beer tastes like a Coors or any other easy-drinking lager. The aftertaste definitely leaned bitter, but nothing too offensive. We were willing to accept this not only because of the high ABV, but because these went down extremely easily. Maybe it was the skiing all day and not eating anything but Nerds gummy clusters for lunch, or the high elevation we were drinking at, but the girls were feeling the 8%. When the second beer is easy to drink, it is a good sign.
While drinking this beer, you can’t help but notice the beautifully designed can. Along with the merch we procured from this collab (hello new home decor and swag), the can is retro AF. One thing we would like to disclose is that this brand is AI-generated. Through various classes at CC, we have explored the negatives of AI. Now, our lucky readers can bring an edge to the conversation — at least AI makes an awesome beer brand.
“Pure. Liquid. Courage,” the beer’s motto, rang true the night we drank the Stunt Doubles. After downing these bad boys, we went out in Breckenridge to our second favorite establishment ever, Nappers. Tony’s, you’re obviously first. There, we indulged in some conversations with Colorado Springs locals, which we will now have to run away from at every Cowboys and Tony’s outing for the rest of the year. Hooray! This beer definitely gave us a little too much courage.
Targeted at those as locked into drinking as we are, this beer definitely appeals to the non-sober population. As opposed to Athletic Brewing Company (sending hate), who are making too many non-alcoholic beers, these guys don’t stray away from a little fun. We don’t subscribe to the newly-popularized sober movement and neither does this beer.
We had some helpers as well! Because we were lounging in Breckenridge for a birthday celebration, some elders decided to take a sip and share their thoughts: “nice.” Thank you, Thomas Treadwell ‘24, for those invigorating notes. If you are wondering what Chris’s thoughts on the beer are, you will just have to wait until graduation, where he will be glued to the die table. Washed. We simply can’t imagine a better beer to go along with some hucking of the cube.
So, if you want to be as drunk or cool as us, we recommend picking up some of the Stunt Double in the near future at Weber’s. We can’t wait.
In even better news: be ready for this to be the new Tony’s Tuesday drink. Let’s get out of our comfort zone together and venture down to Tony’s on a Thursday. Specifically, Thursday, Feb. 26, when there will be a college night featuring Stunt Double from 8 to 10 p.m. You could even get a mini pitcher and make bad decisions with some UCCS kids. Like the beer says (along with our first-hand experience), get some liquid courage and make poor choices.
