In the first CCSGA meeting of Block 3, the committees talked about their plans for the Block and the different goals they hope to achieve.
The Finance Committee is updating all the forms to request funding for clubs or special events. They will be switching from Microsoft Forms to Presence. This will help streamline the process of grant funding, and they will be accepting more events to fund in the coming months.
Student Life is working to get a newsletter about all the different events and activities going on around campus. This newsletter would spotlight one club per Block, its missions and upcoming events. While only one club would be highlighted each Block, they would also have space for other clubs to advertise their upcoming events.
Student Life is also helping spread the word about Passion Projects. Passion Projects are CCSGA-funded if a student has an idea for something that will enhance the Colorado College community and culture. There are no limitations on what they can be. If a student has an idea for a Passion Project, they can fill out the form provided on posters around the school. This Block, Student Life hopes to connect students with the housing department and Bon Appetit. They will have Blockly meetings where students can discuss their concerns and connect with both departments.
The Internal Affairs Committee is working to spread the word about the Passion Projects and designed posters with the form that will be appearing around campus. They are also updating the CCSGA website and planning on hosting a table talk where students can voice their concerns. Sophomore representative Sophia Murphy said the goal is to answer the question, “What can CCSGA do better?” The goal is to understand what students “want to see from SGA.” This table talk will be outside of Worner and have donuts.
The Outreach Committee is preparing for a post-secondary readiness panel. This is a collaboration with UCCS, USAFA, trade schools and other colleges in the Colorado Springs area. It will be held at a local high school, and the goal is to help students learn about their options post-graduation.
The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee is working to adopt a more reflective approach to their events this Block. They want to host more events not exclusively centered around food, and look to weave in more things that students need. They will also conduct an informal climate survey on campus in the coming weeks.
