In August, I received a Venture Grant to study environmental sustainability at Copenhagen Fashion Week (CPHFW) and in the Danish fashion industry. To collect my research, I interviewed people within and adjacent to the EU and Danish governments, the fashion industry, and “regular Danes,” defined as people not directly involved in either industry.
As part of this experience, I did a freelance project with sustainable fashion magazine No Kill Mag to capture CPHFW Spring/Summer 2026 street style for their social media. I introduced myself to strangers and interviewed them about their outfits.
It was thrilling and nerve-racking to approach a wildly fashionable stranger and speak to them about their eye-catching garb. It was a challenge, but I met some incredibly stylish, friendly and interesting people along the way.
Here are some of my favorite looks, and their wonderfully sustainable details.
LOOK #1: Anne-Sophie
Anne-Sophie is from Copenhagen, and she wears “Rave Review,” a Swedish brand that creates upcycled clothing. My favorite accessory is her glass of champagne. Anne-Sophie is also the Head of Global Partnerships for Copenhagen Fashion Week. Her Instagram is @enzofi.
LOOK #2: Liv
Liv is a stylist who recently moved to Copenhagen from New York City. Everything she is wearing is second-hand or borrowed from a friend. Her Instagram is @liv.elkind.
LOOK #3: Susan
This is Susan, an incredible street style photographer and content creator living outside of Stockholm. She is also, of course, a wildly stylish person. We spent a lot of time together during fashion week. In this outfit, she is pictured wearing a hat by designer Maryam Keyhani and a sustainable denim jacket by Danish brand “Five Units”. She did not specify the origin of her other pieces. Her Instagram is @styleinscandinavia.
LOOK #4: Marcela
Marcela is a fashion content creator from Poland. Her bag is 3D printed. Her hat, a small crochet Juliet cap, is hand-made. Her boots and sunglasses are vintage. Her dress is made of her Grandmother’s doilies. She also dons items of her mother’s, including her tights and scarf. Her Instagram is @marcelaandmore.
LOOK #5: Pedro
Pedro is a street style photographer from São Paolo, Brazil. His hat and pants are thrifted. He also wears the Adidas x Oasis comeback tour jersey. His Instagram is @pedro.millaaas.
LOOK #6: Eunyice
Everything Eunice wears is vintage or secondhand, except for the headpiece, which was made by a fashion student from Norway. His Instagram is @Yu.nuz.
