CC’s Tiger Sharks are ready to make a splash this year.
Founded in the 2025 spring semester, the club swim team had a slow start. However, after finding their footing, the captains have worked to expand the team’s reach through social media and club fair engagement.
This fall, the team has gained momentum. Practices regularly host around 20 swimmers, and the team prides itself on being inclusive and open to everyone.
“We have all levels of swimmers, from people who left the varsity team at CC to people who have never swum at all, all united by interest and appreciation for the sport,” said Olivia Link ‘28, a captain of the team.
Whether you’re aiming to develop technical skills, stay active, or explore the world of water aerobics, the team has a place for it all.
“My favorite practice experience has been learning to dive,” said Lily Arangio ‘27. “It was such a fear of mine for some reason, but slowly the panicked belly flops are turning into something closer to a dive.”
While acquiring competition eligibility and funding are priorities, the main goals of the team are to build community and develop a positive practice atmosphere while meeting the needs of each swimmer.
“The captains are also trying to do more coaching out of the water at practice to give people more opportunities to grow rather than just practice,” said Link.
As of September, practice times are being decided on a weekly basis while the captains work with the pool director to finalize a schedule for the semester.
