Jeremy Zucker ’18 graduated from Colorado College last spring with a degree in molecular biology. What’s more impressive, however, is that he also graduated with his first headlining tour on the horizon. As students may recall, Zucker has recently gained traction as a singer-songwriter. In recent months, he opened for Lauv on a European tour, and played at Firefly Music Festival in Delaware this past summer.
Zucker’s “Anything, Anywhere” tour kicked off in Chapel Hill, N.C. on Sept. 19 and will culminate, after 24 more stops, at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City on Oct. 25.
This Monday, Zucker performed a sold-out show at Great Scott, a venue in Boston. Roughly 240 fans came out to hear Zucker sing in the intimate venue. Carlie Hanson, hailing from Wisconsin, opened for him and will continue to do so for most of the tour stops. Zucker will also be joined by Chelsea Cutler in Minneapolis, and synth-pop duo “joan” on the tail end of the tour.
Zucker thanked the Monday night audience for coming to the show, as fans deafeningly screamed “Jeremy!” Zucker was joined on stage by his drummer Jake Levensohn. The set lasted about 45 minutes, and Zucker performed two new songs, including “thinking 2 much,” which is now available on Spotify. Despite the song’s release just a couple days before the concert, fans were already singing along to the lyrics. Zucker came out for a two-song encore and performed two of his most popular songs, “Idk Love” and “all the kids are depressed.”
In the parking lot of the venue after the show, Zucker’s manager, Jesse Coren of Visionary Music Group, proudly announced that Jeremy will appear on Spotify’s coveted billboard in Times Square beginning on Sept. 28. It is clear from these recent successes, as well as selling out almost every stop of his tour, that Zucker has come a long way from making music in the basement of his off-campus home.
CC students can see Zucker perform at the Larimer Lounge in Denver on Oct. 4.
