CC community loses esteemed mentor, friend

In an email sent out by CC’s communications office this afternoon, the tragic loss of junior Emily Spiegel was shared with students and faculty.

Spiegel’s body, according to a prior all-campus email, was reportedly found in a car parked outside of Bemis Hall early this morning. The college has ruled the death as an apparent suicide.

Spiegel served as Vice President of the CCSGA, was a proponent of mental health programs on campus, and participated in a variety of other campus organizations.

A gathering is scheduled for 4:oo p.m. today in the Shove Chapel for anyone who would like additional support or to remember the life that touched our campus.

The next paper copy of the Catalyst will feature a memorial for Spiegel. Anyone who wishes to share a memory is encouraged to contact catalyst@coloradocollege.edu.
