With their season is now in full swing, the men’s lacrosse team did not disappoint this weekend, coming back from their two games in Texas with one strong win and a well-played loss.

At Southwestern University, the Tigers came away with a 16-4 win.  Senior Jack Kreitler, a midfielder, notably scored three goals and aided with two assists. Junior Sayre Thomas kept the offensive line busy, winning 14 out of 15 of his face-offs against the Pirates. Scoring after just 58 seconds, Taylor Paul took a feed from Tyler Allen for his first of three goals.

Less than two minutes later, Allen made his first of two goals off of a pass from Stephen Petersilge. Overall, the Tigers made 28 on-target shots to secure their win.

Staying in Dallas to play against Roanoke College, the Tigers fought hard but ultimately were defeated with a final score of 11-3. Chase Murphy, CC’s goaltender, was able to keep out 15 shots, but ultimately the team wasn’t able to pull ahead of the 13th-ranked Roanoke Maroons.

The Tigers were able to score within two minutes of the start of the game with a shot by midfielder Henri Halle to start off with a 1-0 lead. Unfortunately, Roanoke tied the score within four minutes of the start, and then took the lead a mere six seconds later with a shot by Roanoke’s Will Pilat.

“Depending on the opponent and the type of game we played, the team can react differently to a loss,” freshman midfielder Brad Hale explains. Looking towards a successful future, he says, “We have to regain focus and try to meet a certain intensity level each day during practice… It is important for us to realize that it’s a long season, where consistency really matters.“

Hale continued, “Every day we must want to get better and push our teammates in order for the team to reach its full potential. I like to look at the season through a microscope, where the small baby steps that turn into habitual progress are the foundation to a successful year.”

Even with that loss, the team is ready to come back strong this weekend, with their first home game this season against Wentworth Institute of Technology on Sunday at 1 p.m. Come out and support the Tigers!
