CC under fire for use of “queer” as gender on job applications

The college is coming under intense scrutiny on social media after a Denver Post article Friday raised questions about the use of a response choice for an optional question seeking gender information.

The Post article outlines 66-year-old John Kichi’s “shocking” discovery that “queer” was listed as a gender category on CC’s online job application form.

College officials defended the choice.

“I’m proud to work for a school that doesn’t just talk the talk, we walk it, too,” Barbara Wilson, the college’s director of human resources, told The Denver Post. “In the midst of the volume of conservatism in this city, we’re almost a safe haven.”
